John Ovrom

John Ovrom is the founder and President of Exit Consulting Group, Inc. Before opening his first company, John began his career as a financial auditor and tax senior with Arthur Andersen and Company in the bay area. As a serial entrepreneur, John has personally opened and operated over ten different companies including S-Corp to C-Corp to LLCs. His multi-million dollar corporations have included construction, real estate, manufacturing and service-based businesses. 


 

Dawn Ovrom

Dawn is a licensed attorney, locally elected official and co-owner of ECG. Owning and running the business gives Dawn a unique view into the perspectives of our clients as fellow business owners and families. Her service on the local school board has given her insight into the complex nature of bringing and keeping a community together. Directing operations for ECG provides the opportunity to combine her skills and experience. Dawn is passionate about growing the company and expanding its reach.


Brian Richardson

Brian is a serial entrepreneur with a strength in operations. He has started, turned around, grown and sold a number of companies in healthcare, sports, environmental, cellular and IT. Brian's last exit had him negotiating single-handedly against an 8-person M&A team who had previously completed over 100 acquisitions. Brian had an LOI in 3 weeks then sold in short order to the multi-billion dollar publicly traded competitor. 

Brian knows how hard it is finding a coach to help with an exit strategy, much less someone that can help with the onerous work involved preparing it for maximum value. He is passionate about helping owners realize there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and making change happen so the company’s value can attract a higher sale price. 


Lamar Rutherford

Lamar has been helping owners sell their businesses for many years. Most recently she was one of First Choice Business Brokers top agents. She has sold businesses in various industries such as medical, manufacturing & distribution, childcare, online service & retail, etc. She has also founded and sold her own businesses, worked in brand management for Nestle and Disney, has been on the management teams for three Internet start-ups, helped launch a B2B software company, and managed the sales & marketing for a luxury, international hotel. She was originally a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co, has her MBA from Dartmouth, and currently teaches entrepreneurship under the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego. She is passionate about helping business owners successfully exit their businesses.  


Melissa Poler

Melissa has over 9 years of experience as an accountant during which she has worked on all aspects of accounting.  Her strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills allow her to communicate effectively and seamlessly with clients and staff. Along with these skills, she brings outstanding team-building and leadership skills to the table with years of operations and quality system experience. Melissa is keen and enthusiastic about providing a positive working environment.


Gina McKenzie

Gina has been a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor since 2006 and holds a BS degree in Accountancy from San Diego State University. Gina’s current and recent controller work includes clients dealing with government contracting, product distribution, interior design, construction, painting contractors, rental property, biotech industry, solar installation, attorney and actuary services, trust and personal accounting.


Lora Epperson

Lora is QuickBooks Certified and is a Pro Advisor with Intuit. Lora began her career in corporate America where she managed operations for multimillion-dollar companies. During the course of her management career, Lora shifted her focus towards Financial Management and Accounting. Lora holds her degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Accountancy.

According to Lora, the best part of her job is seeing the relief on the faces of her clients once she steps in to works on their books.


 

Margarita Rodriquez

Margarita has over 15 years of experience in financial management as a Controller, with strong experience in the manufacturing industry. She has worked with startup development in the financial industry and holds an MBA. She is not only bilingual in Spanish and English but is also bicultural. Margarita recently moved back to California from Texas, and now resides in Chula Vista. She enjoys writing, meditation and yoga.
